Assessing

Mission Statement

The purpose of the Assessing department is to develop, through an annual appraisal process, equitable assessments for all properties within the Town. This assures that each taxpayer pays only his or her fair share of the annual tax levy of the Town.

Services

The Tax Assessor’s Office maintains records of real estate ownership, assessments, and sales on properties located within the Town of Hampstead, with listings of properties by owner, street address, or map-lot number. Property tax maps of the Town are available at the Office or on the GIS program. The Tax Assessor’s Office also provides applications for Veterans’ Tax Credit, Elderly Exemption, Blind Exemption, Disabled Exemption, Current Use Valuation, and Abatement Requests.

Contracted Services

The Town of Hampstead employs a contracted service, Municipal Resources, Inc., to assist the Board of Selectmen, who officially serve as the assessors.

Field Work

Municipal Resources, Inc. is responsible for all measuring & inspecting of the properties in town. There are many reasons we would be at your property: permits, cycled inspections, sales, review of the neighborhood, abatement request or a possible change reported by the homeowner or neighbor. Be Aware: All field appraisers wear identification from Municipal Resources that includes a picture. Always ask for identification if the person at your door is not wearing any.
