Weekly Curbside Limits
Weekly Curbside Limits:

  • A thirty-gallonbarrel (trash can) is the basic unit for refuse pickup.  Pickup limits are typically set as a numberof barrels or the equivalent 1 plastic bag. The maximum limits for Hampstead residential refuse pickup at curbside are:
  • Single family residential home                                                              2 barrels or 4 bags
  • Single-familyresidential home with in-law apartment                           3 barrels or 6 bags (total)
  • Duplex homes4 barrels or                                                                     8 bags (total)
  • Condominium homes2 barrels or                                                          4 bags (each)
  • Apartments of two units3 barrels or                                                     6 bags (total)
  • Mobile or manufactured homes on common property                          2 barrelsor 4 bags (each)

  • If you have more trash than these guidelines allow in each week, you can purchase a sticker for each additional trash bag for $2/bag. The sticker must be placed visibly on each additional bag and not on the trash barrel. Any additional trash bags outside of set limits without a sticker will not be picked up. Stickers are sold at Town Hall.
  • There are no limits on recycling put out each week.
  • Recycling Container Guidelines: You can use a Hampstead recycling bin (available at Town Hall), or you can use any other barrel, bin, container as long as it’s clearly marked as “RECYCLING.”
  • “RECYCLING” stickers for your barrels/bins/containers you are using curbside are available at Town Hall
