Bestway Disposal Services currently holds the contract for the Town's curbside residential trash pickup. If you have any problems with your curbside trash pick up you are welcome to contact them directly, at 778-2116, however, please also contact the Town Selectmen's Office at 329-4100 so that we are aware of any problems.
Weekly Curbside Residential Recycling
Bestway picks up recyclables at curbside during your regular weekly trash pickup day. Blue heavy-duty plastic bins in which to place recyclables are provided at Town Hall.
Please don’t mix your paper products with glass, metal, or plastics, such as placing the empty bottles or cans in 12-pack or 30-pack containers. It’s difficult to deal with and slows down the process.
Accepted for recycling (please wash food containers)
- Mixed paper in paper bags or placed into blue recycling bin
(junk mail, telephone books, magazines, newspapers, envelopes, manila folders, cereal boxes, office paper)
- Cardboard must be flattened and cut up if large. Intact cardboard boxes will not be taken by the driver. Keep separate from mixed paper recycling.
- Clear, brown, and green glass
- No. 1 and No. 2 plastics, including drink/juice bottles
- Aluminum cans
- Soft drink/juice/beverage cans, steel/tin cans
- Aluminum pie tins and foil
- Empty aerosol cans (punctured)
- Milk/juice boxes and cartons
- Food and beverage containers
For Animal Problems
Try sprinkling baby powder on your bags. It’s environmentally friendly and animals don’t like it.
