Water Resources Committee

Postcard

The Water Resources Committee has been keeping the Board of Selectmen up to date on the current drought status, and while the recent rain has helped we are still Abnormally Dry for this time of year with potential to enter Moderate Drought earlier than last year. The BOS approved the distribution of this postcard (attached and linked) to all residents and businesses to raise awareness of the need to conserve water over the summer by limiting lawn watering. It will likely arrive in homes next week.  (See attached document)

HAWC (Hampstead Area Water Company) customers, who make up about 30% of Hampstead water users, are routinely advised on their water policy
https://www.hampsteadwater.com/hawc-outdoor-watering-policy#WATERINGPOLI... these guidelines for private well owners follows a similar approach to watering on alternate days or twice a week depending on drought severity. HAWC imposes mandatory restrictions on their customers but right now the Town is only making recommendations. Should the drought become extreme this may need to be revisited later in the year.
