Boat Registration

You can register your boat at the Hampstead Town Clerk’s office during our regular business hours or at Rockingham Boat which is located at 553 Route 111, Hampstead, NH, 03841.

You do not need to be a resident of New Hampshire to register a boat. The boat needs to be housed or spend most of its time in New Hampshire.

Boat registrations are valid January 1 – December 31 of the current year. All registrations expire on December 31, regardless of the registration.

Registration fees vary based on age, length and horsepower of your boat, and consist of 2 payments, one payment to the Town of Hampstead, and one payment to the State of New Hampshire. We accept cash, check, or money orders for boat registrations.

Renewals

If you are renewing your boat registration, you should have received a renewal form in the mail from the State of New Hampshire. That is all you will need for paperwork. Please bring the signed renewal form with you. If you did not receive the form or have lost it, bring in last years registration or a Boat Registration Application form, signed by the owner.

New Registrations

If you are registering a new boat (even if it is just new to you!), the primary owner must appear in person and you will need the following:

  • Picture ID, i.e., drivers license, etc.
  • Bill of sale - should include NH Bow number (if your boat does not have a bow number, we will issue one), Hull number, year, make model, Horse power of engine, length of boat, and what the boat is made of (fiberglass, aluminum, plastic, etc)
  • Boat Registration Application
