Sign up for 2023 Elected Positions
The filing period for Town Officers is Wednesday, January 25, 2023 through Friday, February 3, 2023. The Town Clerk's office will be open on Friday, February 3, 2023 from 3:00pm - 5:00pm to close out the filing period. Town Deliberative Session
The town Deliberative Session will be held on Friday, February 10th at 7pm at the Hampstead Middle School Cafeteria. This is where all registered voters of Hampstead are invited to join and discuss the warrant articles which will be voted on March 14th. The meeting can be viewed on Channel 6 for those with Comcast or on the rebroadcast at https://hampsteadcabletv.vod.castus.tv/vod

Town Election Day
Election Day is Tuesday March 14th from 8am-8pm at the Hampstead Middle School. This is when all votes will be cast for the town and school warrant articles.

Dog License Renewal
All dogs must be licensed each year by April 30th. To save valuable time, submit your renewal request online and receive your license and tags by mail. See https://www.hampsteadnh.us/town-clerk-tax-collector/pages/dog-licenses for more information.

New Online Services Available
You can now pay Property Tax, purchase Beach stickers, Transfer Station stickers, and more online. Visit https://pay.eb2gov.com/?ID=242&campaignID=11 to view the various services that are offered.

 

Hampstead Civic Club
Save the date! This year's 4th of July celebration will be held on Saturday, June 24th at Meetinghouse Park. More details to follow. 
The Civic Club will also be hosting the 2nd Annual Amateur BBQ Competition. For details and questions about the competition please contact Andrew Conti at drewconti@gmail.com 



Hampstead Senior Committee
A reminder about CART Transportation Services for seniors or any resident needing transportation: Rides require a reservation. Because this is a shared-ride service, rides must be scheduled at least one business day but not more than one week in advance. Rides are available 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday - Friday. 

CART Bus tickets can be purchased on the bus and online. If you purchase tickets on the bus you should bring exact change as drivers cannot make change. Tickets can also be purchased on their website. Tickets are $1.50 to $5.00. Passengers receive an automated call the night before their scheduled ride to indicate when the bus is scheduled to arrive. Passengers then receive a call 15 minutes prior to the bus arriving. Please be prepared to board within five minutes of the bus arriving at your location. All CART services are accessible and available to people with disabilities.

Fixed routes include: Transportation to Manchester on Tuesdays and Thursdays to Catholic Medical Center, Elliot Hospital, Elliot at River’s Edge, Elliot Outpatient Services, Dartmouth-Hitchcock-Manchester, and VA Medical Center. Hampstead dialysis patients can also take a shuttle to Londonderry dialysis centers for 11:00am appointments. Transportation to Senior Class is also available.

Hampstead School District
Renovation Informational Session
The Hampstead School District will host another HCS Renovation Informational Session on Tuesday, January 17 beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the cafe at the Hampstead Central School. There will be a discussion about critical infrastructure enhancements to safety, special education, and student learning as these three elements are the focus of the proposed building renovation. Enrollment Projection and Facility Study
The Hampstead School District contracted with the New Hampshire School
Administrators Association to complete an independent investigation and analysis of the
demographic needs of the school district's K-8 student population.

Strategic Planning
The Hampstead School District (HSD) is pleased to present the 2022-2025 Strategic Plan, which is visible at https://strategicplan.hampsteadschools.net. The development of the Strategic Plan was a year-long process involving key stakeholders from a variety of constituent groups and represents a roadmap for the future of the Hampstead School District. Thank you to the various community members who helped provide input into this process.

Hampstead Public Library

Even when the building is closed, your library is available around the clock online. In addition to ebooks and audiobooks, Hoopla has a variety of holiday music and movies free to you with a library card. NH Downloadable Books via Libby also offers thousands of free ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines to check out and enjoy.

Town Forum
The Hampstead Town Forum returns to the Hampstead Public Library as an in-person event on Saturday, January 21, from 11:00am to 1:00pm.

The public is invited to meet representatives from over twenty town boards, commissions, committees, and clubs. No speeches are made. The groups share their mission, who they are, what they do, what’s new, and what kind of help they need. It’s a great chance to meet people who keep Hampstead running, to ask questions, and to learn how to become involved. Residents are provided with a convenient opportunity to explore many options and gather information.

Town Forum participants include the Hampstead Budget Committee, Conservation Commission, Historic Commission, School Board, Garden Club, Civic Club, Lions Club, and many more. A complete list of participating groups can be found at https://www.hampsteadlibrary.org/slider/engage-your-community

Winter Reading Bingo Challenge
For the month of January, kids and teens can participate in the Winter Reading BINGO challenge!  Mark off five activities in a row by reading, writing, listening, creating, and being active inside or outside.  If you mark five in a row in any direction, you will win a free book and some Smarties!  Each reader can win twice on the same BINGO sheet.  

Pick up your BINGO sheet at the front desk!

Find the Library Birds
Pick up a puzzle sheet at the front desk and find all of the library birds in the children's areas to solve the riddle. Bring your sheet to the front desk for a sticker and a sweet treat.  (Bonus: this is one of the activities you can complete for Winter Reading BINGO for kids and teens.)

Third Thursday Book Club
Thursday, Jan. 19 at 1:00pm - The group discusses The House on Vesper Sands by Paraic O'Donnell, a mystery set in Victorian London. Copies of the book are available to borrow. All are welcome to the discussion. 

Non-Fiction Book Club
Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 1:00pm - The group discusses West Like Lightning, the brief legendary ride of the Pony Express by Jim DeFelice. Borrow a copy of the book from the Library. All are welcome to the discussion.

Meditation Classes
There are virtual meditation classes via Zoom on Wednesdays (Jan 18th & 25th)  at 7:30pm, and in-person classes at the Library on Saturdays at 9:30am (Jan 21st.) 2023 Event Calendar

Derry Transfer Station Changes
The Derry Transfer Station has announced that they are no longer able to accept mattresses, box springs or stuffed chairs or couches over 6 feet.  

Those items can still be brought to the Kent Farm Transfer Station with a valid permit. The cost for the mattress or a box spring is $40.00. There is no additional cost for a sofa. You can also have it picked up curbside (subject to change) on the third Saturday of the month at a cost of $26.00 per item, payable in advance through the Town Clerk's office.

Household Hazardous Waste
Waste Oil, car batteries and thermostats are collected at the Hampstead Town Garage on the first and third Saturdays of the month from 8am-1pm.

 

Hampstead Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW)
If you have served on foreign soil, you may be eligible to join the Hampstead VFW Post.  If you are interested, contact the Post Commander Howie Steadman at 603-329-4288.
