In response to notices from NHDES and awareness of the current and ongoing drought conditions in our area, the Select Board in Hampstead has decided to take action to protect our shared water resource.

On August 8th, pursuant to RSA 41:11-d, the Hampstead Select Board unanimously voted to adopt a Lawn Watering Management Ordinance in order to protect public health and safety by restricting the use of water from private wells or public water systems for outdoor lawn watering (including residential and commercial properties) during a state or federally declared drought.

Please review the ordinance at https://www.hampsteadnh.us/ordinances/pages/lawn-watering-ordinance

If you have any questions please contact Select Board member Laurie Warnock lwarnock@hampsteadnh.us or the Hampstead Water Resources Committee at hwrc.all@gmail.com

Hampstead Public Library
Story Time
The Library has Story Time sessions on Mondays and Tuesdays. For 3 to 5-year-old children, there is an indoor session at 9:30am and an outdoor session at 10:30am (same books). Infants to age 2 have Mother Goose on the Loose on Tuesdays at 9:30am. Those classes are outside unless otherwise noted. Check www.HampsteadLibrary.org for more details.

Cards for Troops
Starting on Saturday, October 1st, look for the red mailbox inside near the Hampstead Public Library’s front desk and write Holiday Cards for Troops. Now is the time to start spreading winter holiday cheer and thank the troops stationed abroad for their service. We’ll have holiday cards, paper, and envelopes available to use. You can also feel free to create cards at home and bring them in. The Pease Greeters pick-up the cards at the end of the month, and send them to the troops so that they receive them in December.

Fall Raffle Basket
The Friends of the Hampstead Public Library have a new raffle basket fundraiser on display at the Library’s front desk. This “Thankful for Fall” wire basket contains three autumn-scented candles, a stuffed flannel pumpkin, and a “thankful” décor piece. Tickets are $1 for one ticket, and $5 for six tickets. The drawing is on October 11th at 7pm. You do not have to be present to win.

Toddler Talk
Toddler Talk & Play sessions are on Thursday, October 13th and 27th at 9:30am. Advance registration is required. Refer to the calendar listing on the Library’s website. Space is limited in this special event for children ages 0 to 2. It is facilitated by the Upper Room Family Resource Center in collaboration with the Library. This is an opportunity for children to have play-based and social learning in both a structured and unstructured format. Books, crafts, snacks, and time to explore are part of the fun.

Halloween Bash
The Hampstead Public Library has a Halloween Bash on Wednesday, October 26th at 3pm. This program is geared for students in elementary and middle school who will have early school dismissal that day. Come for the fun old-fashioned games (e.g. mummy-wrap, donuts on a string, etc.) Participants leave with a goody-bag. Costumes are optional, but remember, we may get messy. Advance registration is required.
