Marriage Licenses

Marriage Licenses will be issued by appointment ONLY.  Please call ahead to schedule an appointment.

Couples planning to marry in the State of New Hampshire may obtain a Marriage License from any New Hampshire Town Clerk.

All applicants must provide photo ID and a birth certificate.

If this is not a first marriage, you must also provide an original certified copy showing how the prior marriage ended (either divorce, dissolution, or death certificate), this is needed only for the most recent marriage. If the divorce or death occurred in New Hampshire after the year 1989, we can print you a copy for a cost of $15.00. If the divorce occurred within the last 6 months, you will need to obtain your certified copy from the County Courthouse.

The cost of the marriage license is $50.00. The license is valid immediately and expires 90 days after issuance. Certified copies of the Marriage can be obtained after we have received the completed license from the Officiant, usually within 6 days after the ceremony. The cost of the certified copy is $15.00 and $10.00 for each subsequent copy purchased at the same time.

Both partners must be 18 years of age, or obtain a waiver from a New Hampshire Judge. (NH residents only)

You may use as an Officiant any Clergy or Justice of the Peace. If they are not licensed in New Hampshire, they must obtain a special license to perform the ceremony. The Officiant can contact the NH Secretary of State’s office at 603-271-3242. For more information click here.
